God’s Will

I was reading in a friend’s blog the other day about God’s Will, and it got me thinking about it. Its something I’ve grappled with a lot, but finally I think I figured out something. God has a plan for each of us, but its up to us to find that plan. You can’t just sit back and let the plan happen to you, you have to go out and search for it.

Case in point: I’m looking for a job right now. I want to get into working for social justice full time (actually, I think its what I am called to do, but I’ll explain the story behind that another time). But, the job is not going to come and find me, so I’ve sent off about 30 different resumes to different lobbying and activist groups. I figure God is going to help me find the one that suits me right. So there you have it, my take on God’s will.

On another note, I’ve been reading Searching For God Knows What by Don Miller, and its solidified a lot of my views on social justice. I don’t necessarily want to get involved in a Christian social justice cause, but the reason I want to get involved in social justice is because, as Don points out, Jesus worked for social justice. I like this one more than Blue Like Jazz, but its hard to compare the two. Again, more on that later.

That’s about it. Keep working and God will show you the way. I guess that’s all I’m trying to get at.
