Sort of an Update

From the Bored-Again Christian:

You know you’ve fallen in love with Rick Warren when …

… you read something like this:

Megapastor defends invitation to Senator Obama

WASHINGTON (AP) — Famed pastor and best-selling author Rick Warren is defending his invitation to Senator Barack Obama to speak at his church. Some evangelicals disagree with the Illinois senator’s support of abortion rights. Obama is one of nearly 60 speakers scheduled to address the second annual Global Summit on AIDS and the Church beginning tomorrow at Warren’s Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California.

Obama plans to take an HIV test during his appearance Friday and encourage others to do the same. Conservative evangelical Rob Schenck is president of the National Clergy Council. He says Obama’s support of abortion rights represent the antithesis of biblical ethics and morality. The Saddleback church acknowledged opposition to Obama’s participation in a statement. It says that Warren, author of the “Purpose Driven Life,” opposes Obama’s position on abortion.

Does Barack Obama support limited abortion rights? Yes. Does Rick Warren oppose abortion rights? Yes. Does that prevent Rick Warren from seeing Barack Obama as a fellow Christian and valuable voice on AIDS and the Church? No.

*sniff*

These tears are tears of joy.
